Discover the Events at Tenuta del Cigno

Tenuta del Cigno, nestled in the Modena countryside, is the historic farm estate of the Malpighi family. An enchanting place to stroll immersed in the scents and colors of nature, the estate was once a migration stopover for swans. Even today, it is inhabited by these precious wild black and white swans. The estate organizes free guided tours and masterclasses designed to discover the culinary excellence and ancient traditions of the Emilia region.

Free Guided Tours

The experience begins with a walk through the family vineyards, where Lambrusco di Modena, Trebbiano di Spagna, and Trebbiano di Modena grapes are grown. It then continues into the French-style kitchen garden, where the Malpighi family dedicates themselves to cultivating medicinal and botanical herbs. A short distance away, you will find the Lavender field—home to the first and only official Lavender of Modena® (Lavanda di Modena®)—alongside the beehives for organic Lavender honey production, and the fascinating coop of the chickens that lay colored eggs. In this dedicated free-range corner, the hens roam freely and produce eggs in every shade: Olive Eggers laying green eggs, Araucanas laying blue ones, Marans offering chocolate/bordeaux tones, Livorneses laying pure white, and finally, the dwarf Millefiori hen with light pink eggs.

The tour then moves inside the ancient acetaie (balsamic vinegar cellars), which house the historic batteries of casks where Balsamic Vinegar ages and refines over decades. Among these ancient barrels is a historical treasure dating back to the Napoleonic era, an integral part of the family heritage. The experience concludes with a pure tasting of the family's finest Balsamic Vinegars.

All tours are conducted in Italian and English and are limited to groups of up to 30 people. Upon request, with at least 2 days' notice, tours are also available in Spanish and German. The entire experience is fully accessible to people with mobility difficulties. Reservations are required: tour@acetaiamalpighi.it; tel. +39 059 467725.
