Open Acetaie: Discovering Balsamic Vinegar on Sunday, September 28th

On Sunday, September 28, our ancient vinegar factories will be open for Acetaie Aperte (Open Acetaie ), an event organized by the Le Terre del Balsamico Consortium ( composed of the Consortia for the Protection of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI and Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO) to promote awareness of Modena's Black Gold , in all its forms. A day aimed at families, tourists, enthusiasts, and professionals, to learn about the history, culture, and all the production secrets of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO and Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI.

Guided tours will be held in two sessions, at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., at the Tenuta del Cigno farm , owned by Maison Malpighi, located at Via Pica 310 in Modena. Each session can accommodate a maximum of 40 people.)

They are available in Italian and/or English and include:

  • stroll through the family vineyards, discovering the types of grapes used to produce cooked must;
  • Visit the production facilities , experiencing all the stages of the process, from boiling the must to the ancient vinegar cellars that house the series of barrels made from the oldest woods (chestnut, cherry, juniper, mulberry, oak, acacia) inside which the Balsamic Vinegar slowly lingers and perfects itself;
  • Vertical tasting of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena DOP and Balsamic Vinegar of Modena IGP of different types and ages.

The facility is equipped for access by people with disabilities.
